The Our Lady of Purgatory Church Education Foundation is proud to announce the publication of “Sahteín! – Eat in Good Health!” For generations, Lebanon has served as a crossroad of culture and cuisine. The recipes in Sahteín! capture the tastes, textures, and techniques of Lebanese Cooking as they have been handed down to the Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Purgatory Church. Sahteín! also contains Parish American Cuisine favorites, and a special section of recipes to cook with your children. Sahteín! will be available after November 11, 2022.

Prayer of the Rosary for the Faithfully Departed with Bishop Gregory Mansour & Father Vincent Farhat

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

Beginning December 1, at 5:00 PM, and every Thursday thereafter, our Parish of OLOP, along with Bishop Gregory, will pray the rosary. I have attached the flyer with the meeting ID number for Zoom as well as a QR code that you can use to join us. This is open to anyone who wishes to pray with us. Passing of Eugenie El Khoury

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

Our deepest condolences are extended to the family of Eugenie El Khoury who passed away this week. To her brothers Maroun and Michel El Khoury and their families, her daughter Hiam Merhej in Boston, her family in Lebanon, her grandchildren Carlos and Fares El Khoury, and to all her family here in the Fall River and New Bedford area, we send our sympathy and prayers.

May Almighty God welcome Eugenie into His kingdom and may her soul rest in peace. Allah yerhamma.

Passing of Mansour Youssef

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

We have received the sad news that Mr. Mansour Youssef, the father of Father Tony Youssef, passed away recently in Syria.

Mr Youssef is survived by his first wife Aziza and his present wife Georgette, along with his
children to Aziza : Sawssan, Fadi, Kamil, Elham, Father Tony, Father Jihad and Élie.
We ask your prayers and extend our heartfelt condolences to Father Tony and his family. May Mansour’s soul Rest in Peace.

Passing of Elie Irani

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

It is my sad duty to inform you that Elie Irani passed away this past weekend. Our condolences go out to his children Nataliael, Tatiana, Dory, and Daniella, as well as his family here and in Lebanon.

The family will be receiving family and friends for a viewing on Thursday, November 10, at Our Lady of Purgatory Church from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Divine Liturgy of the Resurrection will follow at 6:00 PM.

We ask Almighty God to welcome Elie into His kingdom and may his soul rest in peace. Allah yerhammo.

Annual Christmas & Holiday Bazaar at Saint Anthony of the Desert Church – Saturday & Sunday 11/19-11/20/22 9 AM-4 PM EST

CYO Basketball Registration Due 11/14/22 for Those Interested

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

I received this email today from Rachael and Leilah, who will be coaching the Girls Grade 4-6 basketball team. This team is part of the CYO in conjunction with Saint Theresa of Calcutta School in New Bedford. If you have young girls in grades 4-6 who would like to play on this league, please let Rachael or Leilah know. The information as far as fees are included in this email. I have also included their email addresses should you need to reach them.

The season will begin the Monday after Thanksgiving, November 28. The games will be held at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel gymnasium in New Bedford.

The fees will be $60 per player which goes to CYO, $5 per player to cover parish fee, $30 for jerseys and shorts, $15 end of year gift, $10 cushion for a few spare jerseys sizes, ice packs, etc… which totals $120.00. Please write checks to Saint Theresa of Calcutta and have your child bring it to school. Please write your child’s name on the check and CYO Basketball in the memo. This is due by November 14th. If you do get kids from outside of the school, please send those checks in with your child to the school and use the same information on their checks.
