Practical ways to help the poor in Lebanon

Dear Brother Priests, Deacon and Subdeacons, Consecrated Men and Women, Lay Faithful:

So many have asked me how to do something simple, practical and direct for the poor in Lebanon.

Mr. Louis Ragy, formerly of our parish in Atlanta, and also serving on the NAM board, has firsthand experience.

A small help ($100.00 to 300.00) will go a long way. Please read his email below.
Thank you.
+ Gregory

—————————————————————

Dear Friends,
I am writing to you on behalf of Saint Vincent de Paul. We are desperate for basic necessities and food to 500 of the poorest families and elderly alone at home during these catastrophic situations.

We have exhausted all our reserves and are appealing to your immediate and urgent help and generosity. 100 percent of donations will go to buy food and necessities. The cost per family is $35 per month and includes a box of items to help feed a family of 4. All donations will be through Saint Vincent de Paul and 100 % of your donations will go to the families.

Please you can contribute through PayPal by sending donations to: info@stvincent-cc.org
Please keep us in your prayers during these catastrophic times.

Sincerely,
Louis Ragy

Prayer of Consecration on Social Media Outlets – Friday May 1st 2020 at 300 PM EDT

Dear Parishioners of OLOP:

I received this email from Bishop Gregory today and have been asked to send this to all of you. I hope many, if not all of you, will be able to celebrate the prayer of Consecration on May 1. Details are stated below and the prayer is attached to this email. May our Mother Mary carry our prayers to our Lord to end this pandemic.

In Christ,
Fr. Vincent

Prot No. 170/2/20
Circ No. 20.12

Reverend and dear Monsignors and Fathers, Deacons and Subdeacons, Brothers and Sisters;

On Friday, May 1, at 3:00 pm (Eastern Time), the Catholic Bishops of the United States and Canada will be consecrating our respective nations to the care of the Blessed Mother under the title of Mary, Mother of the Church. Bishop Gregory has asked that, if at all possible, all of our parishes, missions, and institutions take part in this Consecration.

Archbishop José Gomez of Los Angeles, the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, will lead the prayer of Consecration which will be available on various social media sites including:

https://www.facebook.com/usccb
https://twitter.com/USCCB
https://instagram.com/usccb/

This document Prayer of Consecration 5.1.20 is the prayer service that will be used.

Kindly forward this information to everyone in your parish that they may pray along with Archbishop Gomez, that through the prayers of Our Lady, her son may grant us healing and strength during this pandemic.

Should any of you wish to make this Consecration at the parish level, the actual payer of Consecration can be found on pages 3-5 of the aforementioned attachment.

With prayerful best wishes for good health and Divine graces, I remain

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Chorbishop Michael G. Thomas, JCD
Vicar General and Chancellor

Zoom Livestream CCD Children Virtual Brunch with Father Vince – Saturday 5/2/20 at 1030 AM

Dear Parents of CCD Children of OLOP:

I hope this message finds you and your families doing well. In an effort to socially distance and protect ourselves and our families we have had to temporarily give up a number of opportunities to gather in person as a community of faith. I have missed seeing you, and have missed the joy and laughter of the children. I’d like to invite you and your children to join me on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 10:30 am, via Live Stream on Zoom for “Saturday Brunch with Fr. Vince”. We’ve developed a program of songs, arts & crafts, conversation, and prayer that we think the children, and you, will enjoy. Our tentative schedule includes:

1. Vikki Thomas will teach the children a fun song (including the hand gestures);
2. Rose Dupre and Sarah Thomas Hitchings will lead the children through a special May arts and craft project;
3. I’ll take a little time to have a conversation with the children; and
4. We’ll end with a decade of the Rosary and a Marian Song.

Our brunch program should last about an hour and will give the children an opportunity to see each other and enjoy each other’s company (virtually).

Please let me know if you and your family are available to join us by Friday, May 1. I’ll be sending an invite with the login information next week. We’ll also be forwarding a PDF for you to print out for the arts and crafts project.

Please pass this along to members of your family or other parishioners with children between the ages of 5 and 12.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to the day when we will see each other in person at our home of Our Lady of Purgatory. Stay well and continue to be united in prayer.

God Bless.

Fr. Vincent

CALLING ALL MYO/MYA

Dear Friends:

I would like to set up a time to meet with the MYO and a different time to meet with the MYA. I NEED YOUR HELP!

Could you please have your MYO/MYA send me an email to ourladyofpurgatory@verizon.net?

Please have them include their email, phone number, and address, so that I can begin to keep in touch with them to set up meetings and talks. I would like to set a day for the MYO and a day for the MYA, within the next week or so. I know they are out there, I just need help to find them! Please pass this on to others you may know who would like to include their children.

Stay well and thank you for your help.

In Christ,
Fr. Vincent
